Dining at Sandos Resorts: Every Restaurant at All Four Properties

Complete restaurant guide for all four Sandos Mexico resorts — what's included in your all-inclusive package, what Royal Elite members get, and which restaurants are worth planning your evening around.

March 28, 2026

When you book a vacation club stay at Sandos Resorts, you’re not just getting beachfront accommodation—you’re getting access to some of the finest dining options on the Mexican coast. With four distinct properties spread across Cabo San Lucas and the Riviera Maya, each Sandos resort features a carefully curated selection of restaurants and bars designed to satisfy every craving, from casual beachside tacos to multi-course fine dining experiences.

This guide covers every restaurant across all four Sandos properties, explains exactly what’s included in your all-inclusive package, and reveals the dining advantages Royal Elite members enjoy. Whether you’re planning your first visit or returning as a seasoned guest, understanding your dining options will help you make the most of your time at these world-class resorts.

How All-Inclusive Dining Works at Sandos

One of the biggest advantages of a vacation club stay at Sandos is the all-inclusive dining model: virtually every meal is included in your package. Here’s exactly how it works.

Buffets and casual venues are always available during operating hours. Breakfast buffets feature international selections alongside local specialties. Lunch buffets offer lighter fare perfect for between beach sessions. Poolside grills and casual cafes serve snacks, sandwiches, and quick bites throughout the day. These venues require no reservation—just walk in and enjoy.

À la carte restaurants represent the fine dining component of your stay. Most standard vacation club guests are entitled to one à la carte dinner per night (by reservation). Royal Elite members, on the other hand, enjoy à la carte access for breakfast, lunch, and dinner across all restaurants—a significant perk we’ll detail shortly.

All beverages are included: well liquor, domestic and imported beer, house wines, soft drinks, coffee, and juices. Standard guests have access to the regular drink menu. Royal Elite members access premium top-shelf options without upgrade charges.

Dress code for à la carte restaurants is smart casual—no beachwear, shorts, or athletic wear. Closed-toe shoes are typically expected for dinner. Buffet venues and casual spots maintain a more relaxed dress code, allowing you to move from beach to meal seamlessly.

Tipping is not required (gratuity is usually included), but it’s always appreciated if you’ve received exceptional service. Many guests leave a small tip for servers at à la carte restaurants.

The beauty of the all-inclusive model is simplicity: no hidden charges, no surprise bills, no upselling. You eat when you want, what you want, without reaching for your wallet.

The Retail vs. Royal Elite Dining Difference

If you’re comparing standard vacation club benefits with Royal Elite membership, dining is one of the most tangible differences you’ll experience.

Standard vacation club guests enjoy substantial dining included in their package: buffet breakfast and lunch daily, plus one à la carte dinner reservation per night. This translates to exceptional value—you’re eating at restaurants that would cost $40–80 per person if purchased separately.

Royal Elite members operate under a completely different dining model. Instead of being limited to buffets for lunch and one à la carte dinner, Royal Elite guests have full à la carte access at breakfast, lunch, and dinner across every restaurant at the resort. No buffet required, no “one dinner per night” restriction. Paired with complimentary access to top-shelf liquor, priority restaurant reservations, and exclusive member-only dining venues, Royal Elite transforms your dining experience from “excellent value” to “genuine luxury.”

For example, at Sandos Finisterra, Royal Elite members can enjoy breakfast at Emiliano’s Italian restaurant and lunch at Tortuga beachfront—experiences standard guests would typically experience only at dinner, and only if they reserve in advance. At multi-restaurant properties like Sandos Caracol, the difference is even more pronounced: Royal Elite members can sample a different restaurant for each meal without repeating a single venue.

This is one of the core reasons many vacation club owners eventually upgrade to Royal Elite membership. The dining difference alone often justifies the upgrade cost, especially for guests who plan multiple visits per year.

Sandos Finisterra Restaurants (Cabo San Lucas)

Perched on the dramatic cliffs where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, Sandos Finisterra offers a more intimate resort experience with carefully selected dining venues that take full advantage of the property’s stunning location.

Don Diego is your international buffet, serving breakfast and lunch daily with a rotating menu of hot and cold selections. Expect traditional Mexican fare alongside Continental options, giving you variety without requiring reservations.

Emiliano’s specializes in Italian cuisine and is one of the standout à la carte experiences at Finisterra. Handmade pasta, risotto, and classic Italian mains are executed with attention to detail. For Royal Elite members, Emiliano’s also opens for breakfast—a true luxury. Dinner reservations essential.

Agave is the property’s steakhouse, featuring premium cuts prepared with Mexican influences and presented with sophisticated plating. This is where you come for a special evening or celebration. Reservation required.

Tortuga offers beachfront dining with fresh seafood and international selections. The location—right on the sand with sunset views—makes this a favorite for romantic dinners and more casual lunches (for Royal Elite members). The sea breeze and sunset ambiance make it worth the reservation effort.

Poolside Pizzeria delivers exactly what the name promises: wood-fired pizzas, fresh mozzarella, and light fare in a relaxed setting overlooking the pool. No reservation needed.

Cupcake Cafe & Deli serves light breakfast, coffee, pastries, and deli sandwiches—perfect for grabbing something quick before an excursion or after a morning at the spa.

Bars at Finisterra punch above their weight in terms of atmosphere. Whale Watchers is perched on the cliff overlooking the ocean—quite possibly one of the most stunning bar locations on the Baja Peninsula. A cocktail here at sunset is a memory you’ll carry home. La Palapa is a swim-up bar that keeps things casual and fun. Roca Lounge, the Plaza Finisterra, and The Stone’s Club round out the bar options for different times of day and moods.

Sandos Cancún Restaurants (Adults Only)

Sandos Cancún’s adults-only 18+ policy creates a uniquely refined and peaceful dining atmosphere. Unlike family resorts, you won’t hear children playing—instead, expect conversations, live music, and the kind of relaxation that comes from a property designed exclusively for adult guests.

Zango is the international buffet, featuring breakfast, lunch, and dinner rotations. The adult-only environment means a more refined buffet presentation and, frankly, a quieter and more pleasant dining experience than family properties.

Seasons is the crown jewel of Sandos Cancún dining: a molecular gastronomy steakhouse that pushes culinary boundaries while maintaining the steakhouse tradition. If you’ve never experienced modern gastronomic techniques applied to premium beef, this is your opportunity. Reservations are essential and should be made early.

Gaijin showcases Japanese teppanyaki and sushi. Watching the chef work the teppanyaki griddle is entertainment and dinner rolled into one. The sushi offerings feature both traditional and creative rolls. Reserve ahead.

Frattini’s brings Italian cuisine to Cancún. Pasta dishes, risotto, and Mediterranean seafood preparations give Italian enthusiasts another excellent à la carte option.

St. Trop is the poolside grill—more casual and perfect for lunch. Mediterranean and grilled items dominate the menu, with stunning pool and ocean views.

Bars at Sandos Cancún emphasize sophistication. Bar One in the lobby features live music most evenings, creating an elegant pre-dinner or after-dinner atmosphere. Bar Two is beachside, perfect for sunset and evening cocktails with your toes in the sand. The Premium Club bar offers an exclusive space with top-shelf selections.

The adults-only environment at Sandos Cancún makes it particularly appealing to couples, honeymooners, and guests seeking a quieter vacation experience. For ideas beyond the resort, check our Things to Do in Cancún guide.

Sandos Caracol Restaurants (Playa del Carmen)

Sandos Caracol is the eco-conscious property in the Sandos portfolio, and this philosophy extends into the dining program. The resort features the largest restaurant selection of the four properties, with emphasis on sustainability and locally sourced ingredients.

Buffet venues include La Laguna (international), La Toscana (Italian specialties), and Las Máscaras (Mexican cuisine served under a traditional palapa structure). Multiple buffet options mean you can choose based on mood and appetite.

À la carte restaurants are where Caracol truly shines:

Los Lirios is the steakhouse, featuring premium cuts and sophisticated preparation.

Fogo de Brazil brings Brazilian churrascaria tradition—continuous tableside service of grilled meats until you’re satisfied. This is one of the most interactive dining experiences available and a favorite for guests seeking something genuinely different from typical resort fare.

La Riviera serves Mediterranean cuisine with emphasis on fresh seafood and olive oil-forward preparations.

El Templo is the Asian teppanyaki venue where chefs prepare your meal directly on the griddle in front of you.

Nido Taquería elevates the taco concept beyond casual street food, offering artfully prepared variations on the classic Mexican staple.

Salvia focuses on healthy snacks and light fare—perfect if you want to maintain dietary goals while still enjoying excellent food.

Beyond these primary restaurants, Caracol features 10+ bars positioned throughout the property, including lobby, sports, beach, and pool bars. No matter where you’re relaxing at this sprawling resort, a beverage is never far away.

The eco-resort atmosphere at Caracol pairs wonderfully with the dining program—fresh, natural, locally influenced cuisine in a lush garden setting. For evening entertainment and nightlife options, see our Playa del Carmen Nightlife guide.

Sandos Playacar Restaurants (Playa del Carmen)

As Sandos’ largest and most comprehensive property, Sandos Playacar matches the scale with the most extensive dining program across all four resorts.

À la carte restaurants at Playacar include:

El Gaucho is the steakhouse, delivering premium beef with Argentine and Mexican influences.

Le Gourmet is an adults-only fine dining establishment (18+ only). This is the property’s highest-tier à la carte experience, featuring French-inspired cuisine and sophisticated presentations. Reservations are essential and should be made as early as possible.

Riviera Maya showcases Mexican regional cuisine, moving beyond the standard buffet offerings to present traditional dishes with elevated execution.

IL Piemonte brings Northern Italian tradition to Playacar, with emphasis on Piedmont regional specialties, fresh pasta, and wine pairings.

Buffet restaurants (3 main venues) provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner options with rotating menus and international selections. Given the property’s size, buffet venues are particularly well-managed to prevent lines and congestion.

Snack bars throughout the property serve light fare, pizza, and quick bites for guests between meals or heading to the beach.

Bars at Sandos Playacar are abundant and diverse:

El Agave Blue is right on the beach—your sandy-toes cocktail spot.

La Bambola combines sports bar atmosphere with creperie options, perfect if you want to watch a game while eating.

Riviera Lobby Bar serves as the elegant central gathering point.

La Plaza is an outdoor bar creating a more casual, social environment.

La Mision is the resort’s nightclub (18+ only), open until 2 AM. If you’re seeking evening entertainment beyond dinner and drinks at the resort, this is where the action is.

The combination of size, restaurant variety, and entertainment options makes Sandos Playacar the most comprehensive resort experience in the portfolio. For more ideas about what to do in Playa del Carmen beyond the resort, visit our Playa del Carmen Nightlife guide.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of All-Inclusive Dining

Having spent time at these resorts and experienced the dining programs firsthand, I’ve picked up strategies that significantly enhance the experience:

Book à la carte restaurants on your arrival day. Don’t wait. The best times (sunset, prime dinner hours) fill up quickly, especially at the most popular venues like Seasons at Sandos Cancún or Fogo de Brazil at Caracol. Many resorts allow reservations starting the day you arrive. Get to the front desk or concierge immediately and book your top three choices.

Try every restaurant. This is the luxury of all-inclusive dining at Sandos: variety is built in. You’re not paying per-plate, so sample different venues each night. By the end of your stay, you’ll have experienced a remarkable range of cuisines and atmospheres. This also takes pressure off any single dinner—if one restaurant isn’t your preference, you’ll be at a different one tomorrow.

Lunch at beach grills is the most relaxed experience. Breakfast and dinner at à la carte restaurants carry formality and reservation requirements. Lunch, especially at beachfront venues like Tortuga or St. Trop, is casual, no-reservation, walk-up dining. You can be in your beach clothes and still eat exceptional food. Many guests overlook lunch at à la carte venues and stick to buffets, which means less crowding for you.

Room service is included and underutilized. Romantic dinner on your private terrace? In-room breakfast while watching the sunrise? Room service is covered, and most guests don’t realize it or don’t think to use it. It’s a private luxury that costs you nothing beyond your vacation club membership.

Kids eat free at family resorts. If you’re traveling with children, this is a significant value component. Kids eat at buffets and many casual venues at no additional cost. Pair this with à la carte dining for adults in the evening (with childcare available), and families get remarkable value.

Communicate dietary restrictions in advance. All four Sandos properties work with guests who have allergies, vegetarian preferences, or other dietary needs. Inform your resort upon check-in, and the restaurants will prepare accordingly. The kitchens are equipped to handle special requests.

Take advantage of off-peak dining. If you’re flexible with timing, eating slightly earlier (5:30 PM) or later (8:30 PM) than prime dining hours means shorter waits and more attentive service from staff who aren’t rushing between dozens of tables.

Tom’s Personal Take

I’ve been fortunate enough to experience these restaurants during my visits to Sandos properties. One thing stands out from my time at the resorts post-COVID: when occupancy was lower, the dining experience was exceptional in ways that had nothing to do with the food itself. Staff weren’t overwhelmed. Servers had time to chat. Kitchens had the space to execute dishes carefully. Tables turned slowly, intentionally.

As the resorts have returned to full capacity (which is wonderful for the business and for Mexico’s economy), dining remains excellent—but it requires slightly more strategy. Book restaurants early. Be flexible with timing. If you arrive at a popular venue expecting to walk in and get a table, you may wait. The solution is simple: plan ahead, make reservations, and you’ll have the same exceptional experience those of us who visited quieter resorts enjoyed.

The restaurants themselves—the chefs, the menus, the quality—are outstanding across all four properties. Sandos invests seriously in culinary excellence. You’re genuinely eating better than you would at most resorts at this price point, and certainly better than you’d eat at home for a week. Take advantage of that.

Final Thoughts

Whether you choose Sandos Finisterra for the dramatic Cabo cliffside setting, Sandos Cancún for the adults-only atmosphere, Sandos Caracol for the eco-conscious approach and restaurant variety, or Sandos Playacar for the comprehensive resort experience, dining excellence is woven into each property.

The all-inclusive model removes the stress from meals—no budgeting, no surprise charges, no wondering whether this restaurant is worth the price. You simply eat, enjoy, and move on. For vacation club members, especially those with Royal Elite status, the dining program is one of the most compelling reasons to return visit after visit.

Your next vacation club stay isn’t just about the beach or the room. It’s about sitting at Whale Watchers with a sunset cocktail. It’s about watching the teppanyaki chef work his magic at El Templo. It’s about the freedom to book Seasons without worrying about cost. It’s about excellent food, excellent service, and the simple pleasure of never having to think about the check.

Book your vacation club stay. Reserve your restaurants. And prepare to eat remarkably well on the Mexican coast.
