Why Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen is the Riviera Maya’s center of gravity. It’s far enough south of Cancún to feel like a different country — the pace is slower, the streets are walkable, and the Caribbean here has a wilder, jungle-meets-beach character. The town’s spine is 5th Avenue (Quinta Avenida) — a long pedestrian street of restaurants, bars, and shops that runs parallel to the beach.
This is the launchpad for the Yucatán’s best day trips. Chichén Itzá, the Mayan ruins at Tulum, the eco-parks of Xcaret and Xel-Há, the cenote network, and the ferry to Cozumel are all within a few hours.
Two Sandos resorts sit at opposite ends of the Playa del Carmen experience: Sandos Caracol (a jungle-and-cenote eco resort with natural water systems on the property) and Sandos Playacar (a big, beachfront family resort in the gated Playacar community, minutes from 5th Avenue).

How to Visit — The Promotional Package
Both Sandos resorts in Playa del Carmen are part of a vacation-club promotional program. In exchange for attending one 90–120 minute presentation about Royal Elite Vacation Club during your stay, you get the same all-inclusive package sold on Hotels.com and Expedia at up to 65% off the retail rate.
The mechanics are the same as any Sandos property: you and your partner qualify (married or cohabitating, one partner 28–70, household income $60K+, valid major credit card), pick your dates, sign a complete reservation agreement for secure electronic signature, and travel. There’s no obligation to buy at the presentation. Many guests attend, decline the membership, and enjoy the rest of their trip at the discounted rate.
We don’t sell open-dated certificates or “book within 45 days” vouchers. Every reservation has confirmed dates, a specific room type, a total cost, and a paper trail before any money changes hands.
