The spider monkeys are the unofficial hosts of Sandos Playacar. They live in the trees around the gardens and show up on their own schedule — early morning and late afternoon are the best odds — and generations of guests have filmed them doing exactly what monkeys do: begging, stealing, arguing over apples and showing off the babies. Everything here was filmed by guests on property: feeding encounters, baby monkeys, rainy-day monkey antics, plus the resort’s other residents — coatis, iguanas, tropical birds at the sanctuary walk and the occasional mystery animal nobody could identify.
